Gamma Pi Teaches Youth Environmentalism Through QueKidz Initiative

On Saturday, May 18, Gamma Pi Brothers hosted Green Day for youth in the Kentland Community along with help from a few students from the nearby Fairmont Heights High School Environmental Studies program, as part of the chapter’s QueKidz initiative. The educational event was held at the Kentland Community Center and focused on introducing the Kentland youth to environmentalism and was led by Bro. Donald Belle, an award-winning science teacher in the Prince George’s County Schools. Students learned about the importance of such “green” activities as litter cleanup, pet waste disposal, gardening and recycling in a “friendly games” format on the community center grounds to help emphasize the importance of environmental sustainability. Through the fun activities, the youth were able to give examples and demonstrate actions that have an environmental impact on their school and communities.
