Omega Love Helps Gamma Pi Member Recover from Kidney Transplant

One of the mysteries of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, that only the members of this illustrious organization will ever understand is the bonds that are formed among Omega men and the genuine concern we have for one another. It is a way of life in Omega that extends far beyond generations, backgrounds, philosophies and individual stories and journeys into and through Omega. That is on display now In Gamma Pi Chapter as Brothers from across the chapter and the region are falling in line to lend support to one of our own, Brother Orlando McDowell (Nu Psi '76), who received a much-needed kidney transplant just days ago. He is resting comfortably in a local hospital. As it goes in Omega, when Bro. McDowell was undergoing the transplant, the entire chapter was undergoing it with him spiritually.
As a former Social Action chair who is still very active with the committee, Bro McDowell has been a major player in the chapter’s work in the local community, most notably spearheading the popular QueKidz program that thrives today. He has quietly worked with numerous community leaders in Prince George’s County to improve the lives of families, children and seniors everywhere, despite serious health challenges, He is also a former Omega Man of the Year. Brothers are ecstatic with his recovery and he looks forward to returning to serve as a youth tennis instructor at the East Potomac Tennis Center. Send him well wishes via email.
