Gamma Pi Brothers Spend Another Weekend Distributing Freed Food to Residents

After spending all of April helping to lead local COVID-19 food relief efforts in Prince George's County, the Brothers from Gamma Pi Chapter pitched in this past weekend, on Saturday, May 9, to help Prince George's Country Executive Angela Alsobrooks and a lineup of other local volunteers conduct a Mother's Day Weekend free food giveaway in the Seat Pleasant community. Hundreds of cars drive through a location along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to pick up free grocery bags of meat and produce from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Gamma Pi has been organizing and leading the distribution of free food for out-of-work families impacted by the commerce shutdowns due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus through its Social Action program. The April efforts were in conjunction with the Prince George's County Public Schools and the Friendship Charities Foundation, Inc. Prince George's County has been affected more adversely than any other jurisdiction in the state of Maryland when it comes to the disease.Read more about the Mother's Day food giveaway and see a short video clip from the event (including Gamma Pi) at WTOP Radio's website.
