Gamma Pi Ends Summer Just Like It Started -- Helping Neighbors Deal with COVID-19

During the summer, the Brothers of Gamma Pi Chapter have been using what should have been their vacation time to help local families navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Essentially, there has been no “time off” for The Super Chapter. Like Omega men all over, the Brothers of the Super Chapter are always willing to put in the extra work and the extra time to make a difference. On Saturday, September 19, a group of Gamma Pi Brothers ventured to Baltimore to the Fraternity house of fellow Omega men of the Pi Omega chapter, which served as a Maryland Food Bank pickup site. Gamma Pi retrieved a haul of food packages to bring back to Prince George's County adding to the chapter's supply for distribution. A week later, on Saturday, September 26, Brothers distributed meals to local families at its "adopted" school, the Ernest E Just Middle School. Both projects continue an effort that the chapter began in April when the pandemic was beginning to take hold. Gamma Pi has led the distribution of more than 60,000 free meals to Prince George’s County families during COVID-19 in partnership with Friendship Charities Foundation, Inc, and other social service organizations in the community.
