Paying Homage to One of Our Founders: Dr. Ernest Everett Just, Scientist
 New Just plaque
On a nice, warm, sunny, summer day, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. history was "enhanced" in Prince George's County when officers and members of Omega Psi Phi joined forces to unwrap a new element to the statue honoring one of the Founders. Bro. Dr. Ernest Everett Just. The statue was erected at the school bearing his name, Ernest Everett Just Middle School in Mitchellville, MD, several years ago, under the leadership of Gamma Pi chapter Bro. Wesley Jarmon (above left) who is Founder and President of the Ernest Everett Just Foundation. On Friday, August 14, the new addition was unveiled as a tribute to Dr. Just in recognition of his 132nd birthday and the 100th anniversary of his receipt of the first Spingarn Medal from the NAACP. The statue enhancement consists of two metal plaques emphasizing the scientific and education side of Dr. Just's legacy. One metal plate depicts Ernest Just using the microscope and the other depicts Ernest Just teaching students. Joining Bro Jarmon are Grand Keeper of Records and Seal Bro. Kenneth Rodgers (Gamma Pi member), Grand Counselor Bro. Michael Lyles, Esq., (both on the right) with First Vice District Representative Bro. Dr. Carlton Lampkins (on left, partially hidden from view) and Bro. Donald Belle (second from left) of Gamma Pi and Vice President of the Ernest E. Just Foundation as well as educator in the Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS). The foundation will use the tribute to initiate work with the PGCPS during the upcoming 2015-2016 school year, including helping a group of students from Just Middle School (and many other students in the DMV area) attend the USA Science and Engineering Festival in 2016. Just Foundation Board member Bro. Dr. William Coleman is also partially hidden from view and is wearing the purple jacket in the back.
