'Super Chapter' Brothers help Local Family Feel More at "Home" Through Christmas in April
Over the past 40-plus years, Gamma Pi Chapter in Prince George's County, Maryland has built a solid reputation for service and social action. As a force in the local community, the Brothers of the Super Chapter are giving back to the community every week through a variety of social action programs for children, families and seniors. In the photos above, Brothers are spending a Saturday building hope and a brighter future for a local family through the annual Christmas in April program. As part of the program, about a dozen Gamma Pi Brothers along with a few other members of the Fraternity from the area converged on a home in Fort Washington, Md. on Saturday, April 30, sacrificing weekend sleep-in time to put in a day's labor for free so that the resident, someone they did not know, could be more comfortable. Brothers cleaned up the property, did yard work, painted indoors and made minor repairs to make the property more livable. Ironically, it was the same weekend as the Second District Conference of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc,, which was being held in nearby Montgomery County. That same weekend, Gamma Pi was one of three chapters of the Fraternity recognized for its aggressive social action agenda. Thanks to Bro. Tony Kelly for organizing this project every year.
