Weekend Camping and Fishing Activities Highlight QUE Kidz Program

Gamma Pi started the Que Kidz Dayz program to help young children in one of the most underserved areas of Prince George's County (Kentland) cultural and educational experiences they were not likely to get anywhere else. The plan is that these youth will build on these important and life-changing experiences and look beyond what may appear to be a limited view of the world today and see their own success and place for tomorrow. It's working jut as The Super Chapter envisioned. This past weekend, the youth may have had one of their most exciting experiences in recent years after an overnight camping and fishing trip to Louise F. Cosca Regional Park in Clinton, Md. The youth were treated to breakfast at the Kentland Community Center to start the day before venturing to the park courtesy of their parents for a working lunch, a nature center activity, fishing, an evening dinner at the campsite, a campfire and then lights out, all supervised by the Brothers. At most Que Kidz activities, the day is about cookies, punch and athletic gear. But on this day, it was about bait and tackle, bug repellent and lots of bottled water. It was also about having fun and learning, which is what Que Kidz is all about. The Que Kidz program was the subject of a recent edition of Gamma Pi's new community TV show, "Community UPLIFT.
