Gamma Pi Brothers "Tie Up" Local Community to Assist Young Men
While the Brothers of Gamma Pi thoroughly enjoy working with youth, they are, understandably, especially concerned about the light of young African American males. Recently, the Super Chapter took a new approach to its ongoing work to help young boys and young men get ready for the future by donating neckties. Gamma Pi Chapter collected and donated more than 130 ties fromits membership for the Protect The Prodigy Summit, sponsored by the Prince George's County chapter of Sister4Sister, an organization with whom Gamma Pi has partnered in the past. Sister4Sister's upcoming summit will provide UPLIFT to the young men of PG County by "tying" the roots of their past to the branches of their future. The ties are in all colors and sizes and will help numerous young men have a better sense of their history as African American men who dressed with pride. The ties also help the young men have a more positive outlook on their future. The ties were formally donated during a brief program in Seat Pleasant the week of April 10. The initiative was led by Gamma Pi's Social Action program which has been working diligently in 2017 to reach young black men and other youth through such efforts as career days, sports/fiitness activities and educational field trips.
