Gamma Pi Brothers Meet R&B Legend in Campaign Travels Across the District

In recent weeks, Past Basileus Bro. Gordon Everett, Sr. has been travelling the Second District visiting with various chapters as he strikes out on a campaign to become the 36th Second District Representative for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. At one of his stops, with Zeta Iota Iota of Philadelphia, he met an R&B recording/producing legend, Kenny Gamble of the famed Gamble and Huff songwriting team of the 1970's. Gamble and his partner created a distinct sound in the 1970's called "Philly Soul." The smooth instrumental-driven strains captivated black audiences "back in the day" across the country on the radio, in live concerts and in album sales. In the photo above Bro. Everett stands with fellow Gamma Pi Bro. Courtland Smith, a Philadelphia native, who accompanied him on the trip along with Basileus Tony Lee. Both Bro Smith and Basilues Lee entered the Fraternity at Beta Gamma (Cheyney University) near Philadelphia. Gamble was named Zeta Iota Iota's Citizen of the Year for Achievement Week. Visit Bro.
