Through the years, Gamma Pi chapter has set the standard of excellence for community service in the Second District region of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The local chapter boasts 200 dues-paying members who have excelled in the fields of Law, Medicine, Business, Education, Government, Politics, the Military, and the Arts along with many other career areas.
Looking back over nearly 40 years of service, the numbers tell the story. Since its inception in 1973, Gamma Pi chapter has accomplished the following for the Prince George's County community:
-- Raised more than $1 million in funds, goods and services earmarked for college scholarships and various social action and relief projects …
-- Funded more than $400,000 in college scholarships benefiting nearly 500 students from Prince George’s County …
-- Spotlighted and advanced the special musical and drama talents and skills of more than 300 Prince George’s County high school students …
-- Delivered more than 1500 Thanksgiving turkeys and 1500 Christmas food baskets …
-- Served tasty hot meals to more than 2700 seniors at its annual Seniors Banquet …
-- Provided moral support and material assistance to nearly 3,000 women and children at local homeless shelters …
-- Formally recognized the achievements of more than 150 community leaders throughout Prince George’s County, including teachers and community volunteers …
