As the year comes to a close and we enter the Holiday Season, we at Gamma Pi chapter would like to thank each and every one of our supporters for a fantastic year! As we look back on 2012, you helped us start Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s 101st year in high gear. We have never looked back For Gamma Pi, the highlight of the year was the 64th Second District Conference that we hosted at National Harbor in April. We had a record turnout of Omega men from the five-state region and it will go down as one of the most memorable District meetings ever. All the planning and hard work that went into this effort really paid off. Our supporters also helped make that a success by attending our public and social events that were associated with the District meeting. For our patrons, other highlights of 2012 were another outstanding Mardi Gras Extravaganza, two classy summertime parties, a free picnic, and several community programs like Talent Hunt, the annual Seniors Banquet and of course our Annual Achievement Week observance. None of our community events and service programs can be successful without you. Now we turn our attention to our beloved chapter’s noteworthy 40th Anniversary which we will celebrate officially in March. We look forward to your support at the Anniversary Mardi Gras, which promises to be special in conjunction with the chapter’s 40th anniversary. Before that, we will host our Annual Super Bowl gathering. You can find additional information on these upcoming activities on our Events Page. Again, thank you for a great 2012 and we are eager to see you in 2013! Gordon Everett, Basileus

One of the programs we are most proud of in Gamma Pi chapter is our Project ENRICH initiative. This program helps prepare young high school students in Prince George's County for the rigors of college, beginning in the ninth grade and working with them for four years through 12th grade. One Saturday each month during the school year, they attend seminars, workshops and lectures that we arrange on the campus of Bowie State University. On February 11, we held a Black History month program in conjunction with Project ENRICH that centered on a salute to Washington, D.C.'s Nannie Helen Burroughs, one of the forgotten heroines of the civil right movement from the early 1900s. If you are visiting our site, we encourage you to stop by our Project ENRICH page (under Service/UPLIFT) and take a few minutes to review that fabulous program. It was a great learning opportunity for the students. It was an historic occasion. We have pictures and videos. Gordon Everett, Sr., Basileus Our chapter has upgraded its website. We are at the same address -- gammapi.org. We will be adding new features in the coming weeks and months. Enjoy browsing around and learning more about our chapter and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Gordon Everett, Sr., Basileus Before you know it, we will be in the middle of the summer heat and downtown Washington, D.C. will be swarming with the men of Omega Psi Phi in observance of our 100th Anniversary. This year, our Centennial year, promises to be a special year for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity worldwide and we hope that all of our supporters will share this experience with us by attending at least one of our events during the year. Our biggest chapter event is Mardi Gras and that is scheduled for Friday night, March 18, from 9 p.m. until1 a.m. We have some very special activities planned this year for Mardi Gras and we are looking forward to another sold out year! Your ticket purchase helps us fund scholarships and various other social action projects for families, children and seniors throughout Prince George's County. I invite you to go to our events page for more information. See you on Friday night, March 18!
